Earth X - By Alex Ross

This was years ago by Ross himself. The comic series was a very deep dive into an alternate Marvel history with Ross making some very creative re-imaginings of classic characters. Old Fat Spider-Man was a favorite of mine. I also included the covers to the 12 issue mini-series that resulted from a simple Wizard Magazine assignment after these designs were published. People needed to see these characters in a story as huge as the concepts themselves.

Earth X began in 1997 when Wizard magazine asked Alex Ross to create a possible dystopian future for Marvel. Ross designed a future where all ordinary humans had gained superpowers, and he examined how some of the most well-known Marvel characters (including Spider-Man , Captain America and the Incredible Hulk ) would manage a world where their superhero powers had now become commonplace.

I bought into this hype when Wizard was around, I ended up with the big-ass hardcover with the Machine Man casing. As I get older and have less time to read comics, I'd like to think this is how the Marvel Universe ended up. Some great designs and really good homages to awesome moments/characters
