'Children of Dune' is very well done but they change the Stilgar character by using another actor. Too bad because the guy in the first mini was terrific.
It's a combination of 'Dune Messiah' and 'Children of Dune' books with James McAvoy as Leto II
To become the most hated and feared tyrant in human history, all to save mankind from extinction... AND HE COULDN'T TELL ANYONE...
Leto II may be the most tragic figure in sci-fi literature.
Ghanima was the only one who really understood him. I loved how McAvoy and Jessica Brooks presented their relationship in the mini-series. I really felt they nailed it.
Well Leto was always the stronger one. He never had a chance to make his own decisions about the course of his life. Everything was layed out before him. I would rather not know.
This convo makes me wish with all my heart that Frank hadn't died before finishing the Dune epic.
Have you read what his son & Kevin J. Anderson have done with his notes? Technically it's ended but I feel like Frank would have gone a different route.
Is the door in the background of this art the same as the girl in front of the door from an earlier post this week?
I am happy that we got the four books that we did. For me that is the DUNE saga. Everything is brought full circle. A thousand year epic tale of 3 generations of one family who change the entire universe and the course of human history. It's brilliant in it's imagination and uniqueness. I got such a hard-on for this story. I keep hearing buzz about a new big screen feature and would LOVE for SYFY to do a miniseries of GOD EMPEROR the way the did DUNE and CHILDREN OF DUNE.
I noticed that door too in the prophet painting. Everthing does seem to fit together on the Cave of Cool doesn't it?
I forever stand vigilant to protect this planet from the myriad of forces that are always against us. Be it the octopus, zombies, aliens or the robots my team of human agents, and our feline allies, circle the globe in a never ending struggle for human freedom.
I learn all I can on every subject that interests me. I especially enjoy ancient history because in the past there are valuable lessons to be found. Also, if I ever get my time machine to work properly, it would be good to know a bit about possible destinations and what to expect when I get there.
I greatly appreciate beautiful design. Be it manufactured or found naturally I am fascinated by the process of invention. I am attracted to the unique, the strange, the haunted. I like to share what I find on this blog.
And not let us forget the 'Cephalopod Menace' who, if allowed to, would wrap their tentacles around all that is good and pure in this life and crush it until it remained no more. They are creatures of pure spite. Hate is all they know. Death is all they do. They are our most ruthless and determined enemy.
So we fight. Selena has the celebrity contacts, the cat is ruthless and without pity, Roosevelt's ghost has the experience and I do the wetwork.
Fighting for the future of the planet doesn't have to be a chore, however. We can take the time to appreciate all that is cool in this world even as we cut the octopus into bite sized chunks.
This is the reason there has always been and must forever be, a Cave of Cool. Be sure to wipe your feet before you enter.

The spice must flow, brother Cal.
It can't be the Prophet. It ain't wearing a desert suit.
Neither did Paul in the DUNE mini-series on scyfy. That is why he was so messed up. City dwellers never wore stillsuits.
I haven't seen the mini-series, except for the first one. I will go check it on the book.

I wish they would have made 'God Emperor of Dune'
My second favortie dune book is "God Emperor". It's like Machiavelo's price translated to the Dune universe.

...and eternity is not all it's cracked up to be.
Cal, I've check the book and the Prophet should be wearing a deep dessert stillsuit and a burka.
You are nothing if not a completist.
Attention to details is paramount.
