Check out this hack piece of copy that accompanied the picture on the 'Entertainment Weekly' web site. Can there just be ONE news story involving Superman that doesn't start with that bird/plane line? JUST FREAKIN' ONCE!!
"Look! Up on the Web! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Henry Cavill as Superman! Warner Bros. this morning released the first official image from Man of Steel, director Zack Snyder’s now-shooting reboot of the Superman franchise starring Cavill as the iconic DC Comics superhero."
That being said, I really like this photo. The hair and suit and Cavill's body type all create a nice retro Superman image. And with Zack Snyder you know there digital effects will be out of the world...like another world...a world that exploded in space minutes after a rocketship carrying the infant baby Kal-el blasted off from it's surface. OMG...now they got me doing it.

Another blog pointed out earlier that this photo makes him look like a bank robber.
Yes he does look like a bank robber but it's a romantic 1930s bank robber. Takes us back to his origins as a brawler.
Saw that on Blastr earlier - it's a cool look.
He looks more like Supes than Routh. Where's the "S" curl?
I don't like the washed out colors, and I'd prefer the costume look like it was made of cloth instead of the stuff they make basketballs out of. And another two-point deduction for no mid-forehead curl. So...meh!
