The real reason the GOP wants to cut PBS is Count Von Count, because he helps teach kids to count. That runs counter to the conservative desire to have an innumerate public who can’t tell that most of them aren’t getting the ‘tax cuts’ that get bandied about so much but won’t apply to most people. When the majority of people suffer from innumeracy, the powers that be can use it to get them to back their candidate and serve their corporate masters. If you can count, you can watch your budget, save your money, stop spending it unwisely, and you aren’t susceptible to any and every lie about money or numbers that gets thrown your way.
