'Dr Who' Alums On 'Arrow'

Only on ARROW could the hero be dating the police woman that is chasing him as his alter ego. But who cares, I buy the whole stupid thing. Who ever thought they could make John Barrowman so freaking scary a villain as Malcolm Merlin? He's a hero to me as Jack Harkness from Torchwood and Dr. Who but scares the hell out of me as the Black Archer.

Arrow is a show that just zips along in it's own universe that makes total sense. The latest episode was no less exciting with all the main characters drawn to a charity award event where an assassin is going to kill Barrowman's character. But as you know, the right person NEVER gets shot. It's soap opera, sure, but it's superhero soap opera and it's far more compelling than Smallville was in it's later years.

And then Alex Kingston shows up as Laurel's mother.

Following in the footsteps of her fellow Doctor Who star, John Barrowman – who plays Tommy Merlyn’s (Colin Donnell) father, Malcolm, better known to comic fans as ‘Dark Archer’ on the show – Alex will follow her brief appearance as Diana Lance at the end of the previous episode, with her debut in The Huntress Returns.

In DC Comics lore, Dinah was the original Black Canary, the mother of Dinah ‘Laurel’ Lance (Katie Cassidy) and ex-wife of Detective Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) – who returns to Starling City to make amends with her family and find closure after the tragic death of her other daughter.

I read somewhere that who ever trained Merlyn is possibly a Major Batman villan. Possible Ra's Al Ghul? Would be cool. And they might as well steal other DC characters since Felicity is actually first in Firestorm.

Any characters that are not superpowered are okay with me. They have done a good job with Huntress and the Royal Flush Gang.

Oh, man! I REALLY have to catch up on this show!

You should catch up but you are too busy to bother with the pedestrian interests we mere mortals have.
