DC Lets Frank Miller Draw Superman's Penis for Dark Knight III
Hello. This is an actual comic cover drawn by legendary comic artist Frank Miller. It’s the cover to a companion comic to Miller’s upcoming Dark Knight III: The Master Race series, and it appears DC is actually going to publish it despite the fact that 1) it is horrible, 2) it is laughable and 3) you can clearly see the outline of Superman’s junk in his red briefs.
I’m basically speechless that this is happening. The only thing I can think of is that DC is so desperate for more Dark Knight Returns money that not only have they brought Frank Miller back, but been forced to accede to his obviously terrible demands, such as naming the third installment “The Master Race.” Given the horrible art of The Dark Knight Strikes Again, it made sense that DC would agree to a problematic title as long as Miller brought on board some decent collaborators. Which is presumably why Brian Azzarello is co-writing and Andy Kubert and Klaus Janson are taking the actual art duties, for the upcoming series.
But I guess Miller also demanded to be allowed draw something for his effort, and DC was forced to allow him to draw this cover to a Superman and Atom DK3 tie-in. And I have to assume they promised Miller they wouldn’t change it, because as much as I give DC crap for being obtuse, I can’t believe anyone in the DC Comics office right is looking at Superman’s face, his body dysmorphia and most especially the outline of his dick, and not praying they had the power to prevent it. And then to delete it and smash all the computers that had ever hosted the image with hammers.

Besides this art being terrible - Rob Liefeld type of terrible - it's just like Frank Miller to substitute shock for actual talent as he gets older. His Daredevil stuff is legendary and rightfully so but after Dark Knight Returns he sorta lost his way. There is no reason for Batman to have a sex scene with Black Canary outside of Internet fan fiction but that happened in his Batman and Robin comic book series. I have little interest in reading this new chapter of the Dark Knight Returns saga which really should have ended with the first book. Wasn't that the whole point of DKR?? Wasn't it suppose to be the LAST Batman story? So Clark has a dick. I might not have even noticed if someone hadn't pointed it out to me.

Comic book imagery is nothing but a constant procession of female T & A but everyone gets shocked at the mere visual suggestion of Superman's dick? Why am I not surprised.
Whoa whoa whoa! Frank's art may look a bit different from where he started with DareDevil some 30 years ago, but artists are allowed to change and grow over time. From renascence painters to impressions, artists are always transforming. Hell, Picasso was reinventing himself all the time. And it's ok to not like someone's style crime time to time.
But I will not stand by and let you compare one of the greatest comic artists of the twentieth century to that no talent ass hat. The day Miller's art even remotely resembles that of Liefeld is the day I torch my entire collection, good sir, and I don't see any matches lying about.
Liefeld is the demon who haunts or dreams. He is the Krampus of comic book artists. And I remember Frank Miller when his art was the art of Daredevil. The last DKR series he did was an abomination and you know it. He phoned it in. Tried to use shadows to remove him from drawing anything he didn't want to. But he misjudged the use of that technique poorly on this one. This is why the THIRD installment of DKR will have different artists.
