My Open Letter To Don Cherry That Deserves To Go Viral

You are a Canadian Icon, Don Cherry, but what you said about 'those people' is not a divide that most Canadians are comfortable with. It hurt us to hear you say that garbage especially at a time when 'the other' is an easy racist target. It's a dog whistle and Don, you should have known that.  You only act the buffoon. I know in your mind you remember that that is how it was done back before radio and electricity. But this is the future and times must and do change. Attitudes must evolve and we can only do that with education.

We don't need another martyr to those who are looking for scapegoats instead of answers. You did alot of good, Don. My father was a Canadian Peacekeeper for 32 two years. I know of love and heroism and sacrifice. I know how you revere those qualities. THIS is not how to honor the very thing you love the most. But you can get your lost honor back.

I hope in the time you have left you can fix some of your ignorance with education. You still have time to become the Canadian Hero you always earned the right to be. Talk to people. Listen to people. Talk to us in the social media. Spread your message of wartime sacrifice across the land. Let us cheer you on for a change because hating you right now really sucks. And think of it - if Don Cherry can get WOKE then Canada can save the World. Be a man, Make a difference. You have ONE YEAR to change a country and it's view of wearing of the Poppy. Are you up for the challenge?

Don Cherry deserved to be fired for that ignorant, racist rant. And despite his apology, Ron MacLean should be fired too for nodding along and not challenging that bullshit. WTF was he thinking?

I think he zoned out as usual. Went to his happy place and woke up in a buggy hurtling down a hill towards oncoming traffic.

He won't because that's who he is. He is racist. He always was. That he was ever a Canadian hero is appalling.

I think that you said it, perfectly Calvin!
