New 30 Day Challenge - Day 1 - Favorite Actor.

Its hard to separate the actor with his greatest roll. The performance/character that makes the action come alive is often based entirely on the script they are set perform. So for this choice I list several criteria ;

1. The actor's natural charisma
2. The actor's realism is acting that particular roll (be they play it straight or over the top). This makes me forget the person thy are because they have so immersed themselves into the character.
3. How the actor surprises me by doing something different than we have seen before from them. (This come from excellent script and directions)

3. Brad Pit as Tristen in 'Legends of the Fall'

2. Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday in 'Tombstone'

1. Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in the 'Pirates of the Caribbean'.

Your choices are right on.
Someday do a thing on smaller-time actors that do excellent work surrounding the major star with the world he needs to be in. (ie Joe Turkel, Ben Johnson, etc.)

Depp is a great choice for number one!

When I saw the thumbnail of Brad Pitt, for some reason I thought it was James van der Beek. Am extremely glad it was not.

Val Kilmer as the Doc in Tombstone, Yesss! Loved the way he tormented the baddies with his slow, lispy, dead-cool southern accent in the poker scene--"Wha, Ed Bailey, are we cwoss?"

Favorite actors in favorite roles would include Harpo Marx in just about anything, especially Duck soup. Also Jack Lemmon in the Apartment, Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven (unforgettable), and the mid-seventies supremecy of DeNiro as Travis Bicke and Nicholson in Chinatown.

My #1 vote would also be Depp in Pirates. Brad actually looks cute there. He looks like a wherewolf now.
Cheers,
Robyn

We have very similar tastes in movies and actors. I would have picked the same three. I love Johnny Depp.

Picking a favorite actor like a favorite movie is tough. I need to combine so many elements to even make a choice and they can change weekly.
