Mighty Isis

Does anyone remember how great Saturday morning television used to be? Not only cartoons starting at 6 a.m. but live action shows like 'Shazam', 'Ark II' and 'The Mighty Isis' which the above image is from. Had a huge crush on Isis no matter if she was in her hero costume or regular outfits. She was one hot chica.

Sure you can see cartoons all day these days but it's not the same. That time on Saturday were golden hours when the networks seemed be putting the time aside just for us. They even had kid centric news and information because the more we knew....

I have finally become 'that guy' who says things like, "In my day...." I should be ashamed but I am not. Things are cool now but things were pretty cool back then too.

I loved those Saturday Morning shows. I loved Shazam!. I had a pair of red pajamas that had a yellow lightning bolt that I hac cut from some spare cloth pinned to the chest. That and a bath towel was all I needed for outside all-day summer fun.

Ahh... those were the days. Why in my day we didn't have video games, we just used our imaginations! And another thing young whipper snapper, why we used to walk to school five miles up hill both ways and...

I'm pretty sure those were from before my time.

I agree with you Dr. Monkey. They don't hold up as well when you watch them today and that is a shame. But what does these days?

Sure, it wouldn't hold up NOW. But back then, nothing was better than Krofft stuff, or Shazzam!, Land of the Lost. Ate that stuff up!

I remember Isis! And somehow...in the dark recesses of my mind...Shazam is there as well but not as clear.

Saturday mornings rocked! Nothing like looking forward to a selection of my favorite shows all lined up for me. And no competing with family members for the TV, Saturdays were for kids, no programs for adults. Well, that I knew of anyway :)

But really, I would watch all day and wait for 4pm when Battle of the Planets was on. I would watch that caveman show Kum-Kum only because it was right before BOTP. I would sit through Hercules just because I knew it would mark another half hour till Planets was on.

Back in my day...

I actually have an issue of the DC Comics Isis around here somewhere. Loved her. And Wonder Woman. Still love Wonder Woman, actually.

I remember Saturday mornings watching Shazam and Isis. For months I've been trying to remember and describe the show where some scientists go on adventures in a decked out RV. Nobody I asked remembered it and I was beginning to doubt myself and wonder if I had just imagined this show as a kid. Thanks to your post I found my answer. Thanks for validating my memories.

Robin: While I didn't watch those particularly shows, I do have clear memories of sitting through shows I didn't much care for because there were ones I really liked on after them.

Oh Zephyer winds that blow on high - JK Cameron had an intersting career. She was discovered by Bob Hope and by '72 was a regular on his specials, even performing in an "All IN The Family" spoof sketch with John Wayne. During her Isis period she appeared as a guest on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson because Ed McMahon had the hots for her. She claims that she was hounded out of the business by the early 80's. She went on to direct instructional films for the USAF, and a couple of USAF documentaries on The Blue Angels. Then, after about 15 years as a home care worker, wound up managing hotels over in Hawaii, where she lives today. JK Cameron never married and there have long been rumors about her sexual orientation.
