Smelly Markers Are The Best
At the end of every school year, when the kids clean out their lockers I always went around with a box to have them give me the markers and pencil crayons and other supplies they were just going to throw out anyways. That way I always had plenty of extra stuff around for the next year. More often than not I would get full packs of coloring pencils and even calculators.
So when I got my meager classroom budget in September, I could get myself a couple packs of these smelly markers. They were the absolute best. I was never a believer in aroma therapy, but there were times that just getting a sniff of the cherry red marker would be enough to give me serenity and get me through the next class.
These weren't like model glue. You couldn't get high off them, they just emitted a strong odour related to the color of the marker. You just had to be careful not to hold them too close to your nose or they would leave a mark and you would be totally busted as a marker sniffer.
I am not weird. Ask anyone who knows. These things were terrific.

I teach Kindergarten thru 12th grade Art at my school and I order these awesome markers every year. I'm fond of the watermelon pink marker.
Okay, now I am intrigued. I don't use markers at all, but I will have to find a set and pick them up.
"Just experimenting with a new medium, Honey" I will say while secretly sniffing the scents.
Damn, you guys! You're gonna get me hooked, I know it.
Crayola now makes these! I bought them for anatomy class, drawing muscles on classmates (yeah I'm a geek)
I will never use the black licorice one... you wnat it?
I have been addicted to these for years! I buy them for my kids...giggle
Oh yeah...chocolate was the best! I used to sniff them all the time, and they didn't even get you high!
There was chocolate? My brown one was always cinnamon
Urban legend says that you could get high off the red ones.
I work with kids in a playroom and we always have these around. I love the bubble gum ones, and sometimes in one set the black isn't licorice, it's a sort of burnt marshmallow-smelling thing that can almost make me eat the pen.
My nephew's birthday is this weekend. If I can find these, he's getting them.
YAY!
These were the best pens ever! I even liked the smell of the black licorice one!
