I actually want to start a video store. I have a feeling that VHS is going to come back like records have. There's just too many titles not available through other means.

I know I am not getting rid of my VHS mixed tapes or my BETA ones. I have three VHS and two BETA machines.

I have a combo VHS/DVD player. But someday, my VHS tapes will all be obsolete and unplayable, I know.

Like Blue Ray, DVDs were pushed on us to make more money for people who have tons of money.

I still have my first VCR player, bought in the early 80s. It's the first RCA unit- 4 head- top loader, weighs about 15 or 20 lbs.
It still works (I have taken good care of it). It cost me a thousand dollars, no lie. I think there are 4 others, one we use to tape stuff and the other 3 for I don't know what. The first VHS movie I ever bought was Alien.....It cost about 60 bucks back in 84 I think.

My dad brought one from work when they upgraded to more advanced VCRs. We would take movies off of pay television all the time. I remember how expensive the machines and tapes were at the beginning. You only could rent. I actually paid almost 100 dollars for 'Star Wars' and 'Empire Strikes Back'.

I actually had rented that RCA Vcr at first, but I was such a movie buff that the idea I could see movies like The Thing (original version) any time I wanted to was too much for me. I bought it the next week (it was brand new). I had to borrow the money from the bank. The first of only two times in my life I ever got a loan from someone other than my parents. Yeah, stuff is expensive when it first comes out.

We all know that now it is often best to wait. How crazy it must make cell phone users. I have the same feeling about a BLUERAY player. I am quite happy with the tech I have available to me now. Funny how computers have only really grown in memory power. Well I do have a cordless mouse.

I have a VHS/DVD player which I use, because of the videos I have from when I was little and all the ones I get from the op-shop.

I remember a time BEFORE VHS tapes and you grew up with them. Must seem like a cute gadget from another age, Rouise.
