I Like The Name

When you're a super-hero from a small town, moving yourself to the big city in California can be quite a struggle... a sobering fact that Critter is learning firsthand. Superhero team-ups, training assignments, college courses and nosey roommates are all crammed together for the world's newest hero! But is she ready for it all, and will she be able to fulfill the destiny that is shown to her by an ally from the future?

But this premise is soooo tired. If I see anyone 'fulfill their destiny' one more time I think I will snap. Can't someone just fail from time to time? And fail SPECTACULARLY? Now that I would watch.

I like the idea of a small town superhero moving up to the big city. That idea has potential.

"Fulfill her destiny" well... I'm not against the idea so much as I am the phrasing. It seems that in a movie whenever the mentor figure says "You have a destiny" they never elaborate on what that means and is about as useful as those guidance counselors who tell you the secret to happiness is believing in yourself. It goes right next to "Follow your heart" in my book of cliche phrases

maybe it is her destiny to become a stripper or to die in a bus crash. We never get stories about those destinies.

Now she did her stripping on the bus that crashed, now THAT is a story.

Yeah, these comics with destiny fulfillment are pretty Calvinist, are they not? Or are you down with Calvinism, since your name is Calvin?

I know of the CalvinistS and how the name means 'bald' because of the style of hair the followers preferred. It's a pretty gloomy worldview so of course I approve of it.
