What does it mean when you open the box and the cat is gone?
That must mean it slipped into a third alternative reality. That is also when you realize that the dynamite has not exploded and you are in a bunker with a pile of dynamite and the timer that you bought from ACME which, you realize (too late, of course) is faulty.
That's when the cat closes the hatch, you are plunged into darkness and you realize that you have become Schrodinger's coyote.
BOOM!
