What's interesting about Maskatron is that they obviously wanted to exploit the "Fembot" concept from the two TV shows (Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman) because they realized they could do a toy version of the "peel away false face" schtick...but they realized that their target audience of boys wouldn't buy a female action figure ("It's not a doll; it's an action figure") so they invented the male "Maskatron" character, who only exists as a Kenner toy and never appeared on either show.

(There was a Fembot version of Oscar Goldman, but it wasn't "Maskatron" -- just another android built by that mad fiend. I can't remember what his grand objective was; probably, he wanted to "take over the world.")

Maybe that is why they are not re-issueing the male maskatron with all his attatchments. I am a huge fan of figures that can disquise themselves.

My friend had the Maskatron figure. (I just had the Six Million Dollar Man figure, with the engine block etc.) What was great was, when Maskatron put on his "Steve Austin" mask, he really looked like the Steve Austin figure...it was the same plastic mold! Disguising one action figure as another is much more feasible than doing it with real people.

That's why a real life Captain Action movie would look stupid. The concept only works as a toy...or a cartoon.
