Coming In October - Uncanny Avengers

Interesting. I read on Comics Alliance that Marvel is pulling their own little reboot under the name "Marvel Now!", but that it'll just feature fresh looks and new titles starting at #1.

*rolls eyes* Seriously? How many times can you really do that and expect it work? Does that really bring in new readers to replace the ones you've alienated?

I only bring this up because I thought the image might be connected to this rumored event, especially with Captain America in his movie costume and the Sam Jackson-lookin' Nick Fury Jr. so close near the front of the fight.

I'm not too impressed otherwise. Thor and Iron Man are both in black. Neither feel inspired, and Thor looks especially awful with all of his "noble" colors striped away, adding in unnecessary swords, and a loincloth which is far too reminiscent of the one he worn in Rob Liefeld's Avengers.

Also, who is the guy in red? The Color made me think Daredevil until I saw the "X". With the domed head and hand near his scalp I thought it might be a new mobile Professor X, but the glow between the eyes makes me wonder if it might be Cyclops.

Best thing I can say is that their two female characters are at least dressed with professional modesty by the standards of comic books. Thats one thing they've got over DC.

And there is a new Jean Grey thanks to Time travel and Bendis. Gah. I will read it of course because I have no shame but it seems totally unecessary. It's cool to see Rocket Racoon on the team because he is a freakin' RACOON and you could mine some cute moments out of his interactions with everyone else on the team. Rocket don't take shit from anyone.

Yes, that is Cyclops. He has become such a dickhead in the Avengers/X-Men mega event currently on that I thought they would send him off on his own and have him go through some redeption but I guess he is the 'movie' Cyclops and not the comic one. I hate when they do this.

I found the Ultimates Line to be another big bust and that was a Bendis production too if I remember.

I don't know why we are bitching. These creative shake-ups are business as usual in the comic business. Could I be wrong and could this catch fire? That is always the hope.

I don't think its wrong to address issues like Thor's inferior costume since its a major step down, and really thats the biggest "complaint" I have about this image.

The Ultimates Line was a mixed bag to me. Some ideas were good, some were bad. I don't really care enough to make a big deal about it.

What do you mean by "movie" Cyclops exactly? That he hardly gets any screen time until he gets killed off?
