Rec 3 - Genesis

Are you telling me that someone gave a chain saw as a wedding gift, not knowing that it would be used to take vengeance on a horde of the undead? That is a spooky coincidence. She could have just as well used a blender.

The film is every bit as gruesome as you expect from the trailer only it's in Spanish. The other two REC movies are good little zombie thrillers with some truly frightening moments. Both of those used the video camera footage to maximum effect, building unbearable tension. This film is meant to exist in the same world as the first two and is part of a larger storyline, to be concluded in Rec 4 -

Rec 3 - Genesis is also a 'found footage' movie that uses that technique to set up the bloodletting that eventually comes to dominate the beautiful wedding reception we are introduced to. The Bride is lovely and the groom is goofy in love and you know that everything is too good to last for very long. All it took was one wacky uncle with an infected wound and it's the last family reunion forever.

Stupid relatives. You just can't get families together. Even for one day they can't resist the urge to eat the person at the next table. If I have seen it once I have have seen it a thousand times. More weddings end this way that the so called 'mainstream' media would like you to believe but ask any wedding photographer and they will tell you the truth.

The most important thing I learned from this film is that I NEVER want to ruin a woman's 'special day'. For some reason they take any disruptions personally. Then they get all 'stabby'.

That bride has no training to operate that type of machinery. Plus where is the eye protection and maybe some steel toes boots (in matching white of course). Somebody could get hurt with her waving that chainsaw around all willy nilly like she does.

But again, it IS her day so allowances have to be made.

One thing I have learned from all my years of fighting zombies that where there is one, there are three. You just want to avoid those bastards all together if you can. Use you time and your effort and your weapons to ESCAPE. Know when to pick your battles if you want to survive. After the events of this wedding I don't know that I would want to - survive that is. This was a grim choice for the afternoon but I didn't yet feel ready to see The Dark Knight Rises which I am going to do with a 3D screen and a movie house hot dog.
