The Movies Of Stanley Kubrick

Of all of these, my favorites are Dr. Strangelove and the first half of Full Metal Jacket.  I have to admit that I have never seen The Shining and got through about ten minutes of Eyes Wide Shut. Clockwork Orange freaks the hell out of me still but so did the novel it's based on. Barry Lyndon did nothing for me because I always have hated Ryan O'Neil. 2001? I hate to say I needed to see 2010 to fully get what was going on which made A Space Odyssey so much more enjoyable to watch the second or third time around.

LOVE Strangelove, actually met Shane Rimmer (one of the cockpit guys) at a Space:1999 con back in 2005. A cool guy, likes to fish.

LOVE Clockwork and 2001 as well. 2010's a great film for good Roy Schneider and a nice companion piece to the original.

Dr. Strangelove is easily one of my favorite comedies if not one of my favorite movies on the whole.

I liked Full Metal Jacket, but I get peeved whenever someone says that anyone who wants to join the army should have to see this movie first. I cannot bring myself to believe that Full Metal Jacket is an accurate depiction of the US Army either then or now. It is a well made but also very fictitious and very anti-war piece.

Barry Lyndon looks interesting for its period accurate lightning but I haven't heard enough about the story to hook me.

I saw "The Shining" just to understand all the gags and parodies that are made of it. Its an engagingly eerie feature to say the least but it'll will leave you with a lot of questions and theories. It was the "Lost" of its time.

I don't know if I could sit through "Clockwork Orange" or "Eyes Wide Shut", they look either too graphic or too weird for my casual viewing.

2001 was a feature I actually saw on New Year's Eve 2000. I remember it didn't make a whole lot of sense, but I'd like to see it again to see if I can get anything out of it as an adult.

I've been in for nearly 30yrs, and did actually see it after Basic Training..

It was a movie, that's all.., 'Stripes' was a tad more accurate.

My fave is and always will be Clockwork Orange. I first saw it in the movie theatre when I was 16. My Mom had to take me, LOL, because it was rated Adults Only. She didn't find it quite as thrilling as I did.

I've seen all of Kubrick's films, including KILLER'S KISS and THE KILLING, early pictures he made before PATHS OF GLORY and SPARTACUS, and I loved them all, even BARRY LYNDON. The only one I haven't seen all of is EYES WIDE SHUT. I just can't get past Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.

I agree with david, Dr. Strangelove is the greatest. Yes, even Barry Lyndon. Love that. Couldn't bear to watch Eyes Wide Shut either. Same reason.
