I Am Planning My First Blogging Field Trip

This is just a taste of some of the great Halloween posts you can expect from the Cave of Cool this October. I am pouring my energy into everything I do...kickin' it up a notch...and seeing what kind of stuff sticks in the minds of those who notice such things. Today I was researching HALLOWEEN COSTUME SHOPPING and as always, I appreciate your comments and criticisms.

Every Halloween they seem to open a big seasonal store to sell costumes and other Halloween bits and pieces. Over the years those spaces have become larger and larger with more products available than ever. As kids we had to make out outfits from whatever we could find around the house or at the tiny Halloween display at the local drug store. Why do you thinks so many of us went dressed as pirates or ghosts? Or vampires if you could find a pair of fangs.

So I love to go to these temporary stores and see all the great stuff that is for sale from masks to cool plastic weaponry. I want to find a cool two gun toy holster rig to just wear around the house. I still have my soft plastic nunchucks to practice with. That way I don't knock myself out when I bash myself in the head with them.

How cool is this shield? Cost less than 20 bucks but could be the start of a great Knight character to act out all of our Game of Thrones fantasies. It's more fun with all the proper gear and many websites I visited today to research this post offered great prices on Halloween accessories. Damn I miss not having a reason to dress up.

I swear if I had the body for it, I would go as THIS Numnut for Halloween. I always wanted to because despite how much I loath and mock his abilities as the leader of an international terrorist organization, I have always thought that his LOOK was spectacular. Simple and iconic. I prefer the metal mask to the KKK style hood with eye holes. It's more fun to listen to Cobra Commander rant if you don't have to look at his face.

I also would have added this cool cobra cane.

Give him a cape and it screams Meglomaniac Terrorist Leader. I like the little knife assessory you get with the complete suit. So for 100 bucks I can look kick-ass for Halloween if I still did anything like that...anymore.

I even thought of a friend not named Erik who seems to claim that there are not enough NINJA's in Halloween or life in general. Well here is proof that you can at least dress and equip yourself like a cool one if you wish.

Of course Halloween has turned into a huge drunken party where girls dress sluttier than they do at any other time of the year. I don't know exactly when that happened but it seems to be all the rage these days. I don't judge because I have to admit I like to see all the drunk chicks with knee high socks and their sexy Snow White dresses.

So check back in a few days when I return with pictures of my adventure. This idea was totally inspired by The Holidaze and their most recent post on the same topic. Go HERE to read the article and see some great Halloween pictures.

Speak for yourself Kal, I almost quit Halloween altogether after seeing the "Slutty Amish Girl" costume. That is something that does not need to exist.

I don't make the rules. I just enjoy them.

You're kidding, right? Slutty Amish girl. Circling the drain.

What, Amish girls can't troll for love? I THOUGHT this was America and not IKANTASTAN.

Don't you watch those TV shows about the Amish? My gawd, nothing but a friggin Peyton Place! My Rare One can't get enough of those shows. It's driving me mental.

Can't wait to hear about your trip! We have a store nearby that is a year-round Halloween/costume store, The Halloween Outlet. Each September, they have a tent sale that has discounted items, food and some other special events. I take my two youngest every year and today is the day! Can't wait, even though the pomp has died a bit over the years. In the beginning, they had carnival sideshow performers and such. Now it isn't that grand, but still a fun way for us to kick of Fall here. :)

Right now I'm following Sleepy Hollow, the Hollow Crown series of Shakespearian plays on PBS, and Orange is the New Black on Netflix. Soon I'll be following the new seasons of Murdoch Mysteries, 22 Minutes, Rick Mercer and Dragons Den. What can I say? I love CBC.
