Dazzler #27-35 and Marvel Graphic Novels #12 (1983-85) covers by Bill Sienkiewicz.

This was a great example of a comic I originally only bought for the covers but found I liked following the adventures of a lone female mutant who was also an aspiring rock star. It was like Jem and the Holograms with superpowers, disco balls and roller skates. How could I resist. And in those days I got 20 dollars every two weeks for comics. There was room to enjoy something different.

At one point in the future (the many alternate X-men futures) Alison Blair was elected President of the USA but was killed on her first day in office by huge dragons. Why dragons? Why not?

Sienkiewicz is just fantastic. My favorite thing he did is the artwork for Frank Miller's Elektra Assassin.

Wow. Never saw these covers before! Talk about unique, especially for the '80s.

He then went on and did a great run on Thor. I was always a fan of his stuff and in those days you could afford to take chances on a artist that was doing something different. Sometimes like with Walk it's great. Then like Leifeld you leave with a sould crushing experience.
