Like my father who was a warrior during the best years of the Cold War. He and all the veterans of any war, however they served, deserve our eternal respect. I wish the nations they served recognized their sacrifices as much as the ordinary citizens and family members do.

My neighbor's husband left for boot camp over the summer so I've been getting a bigger picture of army life second-hand then I had previously.
Oddly enough I got an e-mail yesterday from the local movie theater saying that if I printed out a special coupon and showed military ID on the 11th (on only on the 11th) that I could get a free small popcorn.
Seems a rather limited incentive for a military discount. At least when the theater gives you the same coupon deal for your birthday you have a whole month to use that.
A small popcorn seems fair for risking permanent injury in a war for multinational corporations.
Especially when we know that Taco Bell is the only eating establishment that will survive the Franchise Wars.
My dad and brother served, as well as great-grandparents and uncles - so today is a special day for us both. I hope too that our government supports veterans versus denying them.
But when do they ever do that?
My Dad served in the Air Force in WW2. He ended up in a bomber bombing very close to where he was born in Italy. Hats off. I miss him.
PS. Your Dad looks great.
Yeah, I watched that shifty-eyed bastard Harper lay a wreath on TV this morning, all while his government is busy screwing wounded veterans out of their pensions. The man has no shame.
27 yrs in.., still hoping for full-bird colonel next year, but if not, I'm just fine..
With my Germany tour and two deployments, I think 'I'm good'...
Yeah, I'm not thrilled with our 'Messiah' screwing our combat veterans out of benefits, but it's not like I didn't warn 'ya.
I just keep on working myself, 'Who needs retirement..?'
