New GOTHAM (Batman TV Show) Coming To FOX

I want it to be known that I had this idea for a TV series YEARS ago - while Smallville was still interesting I had the idea of a series that starts with the death of Bruce's parents and involves a rookie cop named Jim Gordon. Well, there is a show out there called GOTHAM that apparently will be a part of the next pilot season. Read more about it here. The Bat Blog has the early story. It's interesting that the creators went in the direction I always thought worked best for Batman's return to series television.

It's too bad that with a 12 year old Bruce Wayne we can't have a Batgirl. Unless they make them classmates. Sure it messes with continuity but this is television and a Batgirl only makes a TV show better.

However, I do like this Gotham High idea for an animated series.

The story goes that Smallville was supposed to be about a teenage Batman-to-be, but execs nixed the idea as "Batman Begins" had begun development, so they switched the concept over to Superman instead.

They did a good job with Smallville and I watched each and every damn episode. The ending satisfied me and that is all you can ask for with one of these. Happy to see that Arrow is still good and now we get the Flash if it gets past the pilot season.

Batgirl could be a little kid that Bruce babysits sometimes, sort of like how Robin was a tadpole on Muppet Babies.
