Why My Mother Is Cool

I just had a conversation with my Mother about The Blue Boy by Gainsborough. I can't tell you how cool that is. She could articulate exactly why she loves it. Her copy is a needlepoint version but she loves it and paid ten dollars for it at a garage sale.

I agree, YAY Cal's Mom!

When I was a kid, one of my aunties loved the Blue Boy too. She had a companion print on her wall (also by Gainsborough, I believe?) of a girl all in pink. That protrait was called "Pinkie" if memory serves.

My mother said there was a pink one she should have gotten at the same garage sale which I didn't know about. She schooled me on ART?? The woman is full of surprises.

My Grandmother Winnie had a reproduction of this in one of the guest rooms forever!
