Video Killed The Radio Star Patient ZERO

This sounds like a topic for the next recording of THIS WEEK FROM THE CAVE OF COOL. I can tell why this guy is the first career death that came as a result of videos becoming all the rage in popular music. In the 80s it was more important that an act was 'video friendly' than if the singer or group had any talent. Christopher Cross has a HUGE album and #1 song called Sailing but he was a husky boy that did not look good in a tight sweater when he sang this song one of the few times I saw him on TV. Beautiful voice but that no longer mattered so the fame he reached with that hit song quickly faded away in an age where style trumped substance everytime.

Cross had a lot of talent, won 5 Grammy's. MTV didn't get a lot of requests for adult contemporary though. He was undeniably part of the '80s though

I always felt he didn't get the push or attention he deserves.
