Godzilla Minus One - I have always been told that if you want to remake a classic that you have to strip it down and go back to the beginning. This movie learns that lesson well and crafts a great monster movie rapped up in a tale of redemption and love. It's a war movie set in the time after WW2 ended for Japan and we see people carry deep emotions with them from their war time experience. Godzilla here is a force of nature to remind Japan that war is not all the misery that could be brought to an exhausted and war weary population. I loved that way the humans fight back while fighting their own inner demons. Defeating Godzilla turns out to the one cure for PTSD. Great character and a muted color palette makes this a subtitled classic. Don't miss it when it comes to streaming. It's the best movie I saw in a year that was chock full of all kinds of crap. Maybe the worst year in movie history. Glad I found a great film to fill out my top ten list.

I read a positive review of this movie on another blogger's site too, but he didn't know why it was called "Godzilla Minus One." Do you know why?
They never elude to an reason. I think it just is something in the translation from Japanese to English in the title. And it is a rebooting of the entire Godzilla series so taht may be the reason for the title also.
