OMG...I only hate monthy comics when they leave me with a cliffhanger that makes me crazy. I have no patience to wait a month to see how things will work themselves out. The last panel of Nova 21 was such a comic. Robbed of his Nova powers by a corrupted (?) Worldmind (the computer that contains all the knowledge and powers of the planet Xandar), Richard Rider (who basically held the Nova Corps together during the recent Annihilation cosmic storyline and was its Nova Centurian) was left naked and powerless on Earth. The Nova Corps are the Green Lanterns of the Marvel Universe and like the GLs serve as universals cops. Richard Rider is the Hal Jordan of the Nova Corps and over the years has earned the right to the Nova power and all the neat things it allows him to do like fly and manipulate powerful energies.. This is one of my favorite monthlies along with Gaurdians of the Galaxy and The Immortal Iron Fist. More happens in each issue than in any ten issues of the supposed main titles such as Fantastic Four and especially both Avengers books. Now I see this image from next months's Nova and I am just giddy with schoolgirl joy. Who better than Rider to control a cosmic power and layeth the smackdown on Worldmind and whatever has corrupted it. Getting the chance to beat down his snotty little brother will just be a bonus.
