Can't you use your knitting skills for good instead of evil? What is wrong with a nice sweater or cap?
If I found one of these on my doorstep I would take it as a threat - a terroristic cephalopod threat and I would act accordingly. Well after I burned this abomination with some chicken livers and holy water.

Looks like a sock gone wrong.
I believe that is the cephalod pod equivalent of the horse head in the bed.
That's the way I view it. Or a squid wrapped in newspaper - "Calvin sleeps with the cephalopods"
