So avoid at all costs if it makes you feel uncomfortable. Pat mentioned on my post about the Submariner movie that lots of comics books have 'gay' undertones and you can certainly see that from the skintight outfits they wear, the ripped bodies and violence as a substitute for repressed sensuality.
Hell in the fifties that crazy ass psychiatrist (Fredric Wertham) thought reading comics like Batman and Robin would be bad for a boy because of the obvious man/boy love affair going on. His book 'Seduction of the Innocent' nearly killed the comic industry and certainly neutered it until well into the 1970s.
I kinda missed all that when the Dynamic Duo were tired to a giant penny I guess but I digress. Here was Pat's comment and my reply which I only post so that I could go looking for me favorite clip from 'Torchwood - Children of The Earth'. I have mentioned this scene before because it will always stick with me.
"It would end up being the comic "superhero" version of "Brokeback Mountain. Sub-Mariner comics have so many "gay" overtones. Some of them right on the cover. Not that there's anything wrong with that!" I'm just saying..."
"I don't care if they kiss in my Submariner movie but I want it to also include lots of explosions and fighting and decorating - "That giant clam chair would look fabulous in our living room" (for example).
I still remember how cool a moment on 'Torchwood - Children of the Earth' when Captain Jack kissed his bff Ianto while the Hub was about to explode around them. That was great writing and direction and just put the whole moment into a totally different and awesome perspective for me.
I know people who would be offended and turned off by that but I was thrilled and I am straight. I think I respected most the bravery for actually putting something like that into a TV program in a world that may never be ready for something like that on mainstream TV."

I think the sub-mariner was a lot more blatant about it than most. I'm gonna have to go back and take a look at Archie now...
But not "Blackhawk" of course. Or was the croquet mallet that my brother fractured my skull, a phallic symbol to him? Maybe...
"That giant clam chair would look fabulous in our living room" would be a great line...
"fractured my skull "with"..."
Yes, didn't you know that anyone who blugeons you with a croquet mallet is just repressing deep sexual urges for the game of corquet. It's those damn lawn hoops.
And you are right, nothing weird about Blackhawk. Just have their own private island resort and were all guys exept for that one girl, had a chinese rent boy and wore fetish leather outfits. Fabulous.
My favorite bart about the whole Captain Jack Ianto thing was when Ianto admitted to his sister "I'm not gay. It's just him"
Oh, to be as sexy as Captain Jack.
Captain Jack is one magnificent bastard. I would follow him to the gates of Hell itself.
Never watched Torchwood, so I know nada about Captain Jack. But I never got why people get so up in arms about what OTHER people are doing. Are they hurting anyone? No. That's all that should matter.
Imagine what a great world it would be if we could just live in harmony.
Hey ... that rhymed...
It's the 'rhymers' like you that would be the first to go in our new 'harmonious' tyranny.
