Christina's Mistake Is Not Such A Big Deal, But...

She has spent most of her career being an entitled brat who had only one gimmick in her bag of tricks. When you look back at how much potential she had when her career started, she is one of the biggest musical disappointments of all time. I am enjoying the bad year she is having. It is pure Schadenfreude and proof that what goes around comes around. Anyone who thinks differently are the same people who are willing to let any celebrity off the hook. The world is still spinning, yes - and she can take a week's worth of grief for her screw-up. She's a big girl.

One additional point. She didn't 'forget' shit. Her 'replacement' line ( “O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming” with her own creation of “What so proudly we watched, at the twilight’s last gleaming” ) fit quite nicely into the anthem. She did it on purpose. Even bad press is good if they spell your name correctly. She learned from Charlie Sheen's experience. Being a fuck-up doesn't hurt someone's career one damn bit anymore.

I don't feel too badly for her. It's her job to sing and perform...properly.

Huh, and hear I thought she screwed up. Technically she was rewriting history. Bravo.

Sounds better, but I'm only Canadian.

Instead of predicting game scores, we predicted that she would make that frog growl singing noise, and move her arms up and down when she changed notes.

Serves them right for getting a celebrity instead of a singer to do it...

She relies way too much on her weird note-climbing stuff. Just use the good voice you have and sing, you're not a freakin' acrobat. Sheesh.

Messing up the lyrics, unintentionally, isn't the main problem I have with her performance of the National Anthem. Her job was to get it right and she didn't. At the worst, failing at that just makes her a failure as a National Anthem singer.

As Wings pointed out, though, the vocal aerobics is annoying in the extreme. By singing the Anthem that way she made it about HER, instead of about the Anthem. That's my main problem with her exhibition of bad judgement.

Seriously, if Christina Aguilera fucked up singing God Save the effin' Queen over here, no one'd notice. We'd all be too busy chanting for her to get her tits out.

See, Joe's got a handle on what's important in life. God bless the British!

I know I'm not the only one who thought, "Hey! It's Enrico Palazzo!"

Now THAT was funny. Haven't heard that name in a long time.
