Deliveries of Terrafugia’s Transition car/aircraft have just been scheduled for late 2012, after the vehicle was cleared for highway use by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Because a flying car is subject to both land and air regulations, the approval required some exceptions. The Transition will be allowed to use lightweight polycarbonate windows instead of safety glass, and permitted to drive on nonstandard tires. It was okayed as a plane by the FAA last year.

What disappoints about all the flying cars that come out of the market is the lack of properly retractable wings. Have we learnt nothing from Thunderbirds or Bond?
Furthermore look at this thing it looks like it was designed in the 1950s! The trouble here is that too often these things are built by mechanical engineers and designed by them too. Yeah it's be cool to have a flying car. But an ugly flying car? No thanks.
I could make a jetpack, but then I would need some volunteers willing to donate their body to science to test it.
