I Once Knew This Speech By Heart

But I was an ACTOR in my past and I was good. Top drama student of Grade 12. I was there with all the brains and the jocks and then there was me...the fool. But I was a great actor in my youth and even studied acting in first year college before going into education.

Ok That's fascinating! I memorized this SAME speech from this same movie right after it came out on video. Just listened to it over and over and over. Wrote it out and memorized it. Recorded it and listened to it in the car. Right up to the "and gentlemen in England now abed shall think themselves accursed they were not here and hold their manhood's cheap whiles any speaks that fought with us upon saint crispans day hooray!" part --

The reason I saw this movie... the reason I paid good money to see it back when I was just a young man, is because Patrick Stewart, a million years ago at a Star Trek convention in Florida, told a room full of people that we should see this film. He had only just seen Branagh's version and he spent most of his short time with us talking about it and then Shakespeare. Mr. Stewart even went to the point of promising a little kid in the front row that he would personally reimburse him if he saw it but didn't like it.

I sometimes still whip it out, the speech I mean, around people who don't know I memorized it and they look at me like I'm an absolute freak from hell.
:)

So. Huzzah for Henry V.

It was during the middle of the third season of "Next Generation", now that i think about it, cause he told the whole room how happy he was that he had complained enough to the writers that they were finally getting Picard out of that damn chair on the bridge.
Sure enough, few weeks later while sitting in front of the tv, I watched Picard jumping out of the chair and punching somebody.

Great story. I am glad it brought back those memories.
