Seeing this movie for the first time was pure joy for me. I saw it with a friend and her daughter who was maybe six. At the moment when the Iron Giant reverts to his true nature she let out a squeel of joy the likes of which I had never heard before or since. I thought she was going to wet herself with excitement the more destructive the big guy became. It was totally infectious. Seeing such a reaction is the coolest thing about going with a kid to a good movie.
If you haven't seen the movie then skip this clip. But if you have, please watch and remember how great it is.

Kids know how to enjoy a movie.
We didn't see it in the theater, but it got such great reviews, we bought the DVD when it came out - and didn't regret it one bit. Such a charming movie.
With a fantastic ending.
Brad Bird is coming out with Incredibles 2 this year so that will be very cool.
