MTV had a huge effect on my life. Not these days when they no longer play music videos but back in the day when it all first started - When the 'Buggles' first informed us of what was at that time a prophetic truth - that 'video killed the radio star'.
Suddenly I was exposed to more than just the crap my friends listened to because they had all those hand-me-down 'Kiss' and 'Judas Priest' albums from their older siblings, the ones that almost made my ears bleed.
Finally I had music I could like as I got explosed to anyone and everyone who put out a video.
Over the years I come back to this one again and again not only because it's wickedly political (and very funny - I swear - if an arab and jew can unite over this song - then so can the whole world) but because so many people I know think the chorus is 'rock the catbox'.
So here is my favorite song/video - 'The Clash - Rock the Casbah'.

I'm going to enjoy this 30 day songfest. I like your first choice well enough, though it's far from a favorite for me.
So..put up your own.
I had the same experience with MTV. I love, love, love this song. It brings back so many good memories, and it just effin' rocks.
Good song. Not a favorite of mine, but a good song.
The most interesting thing about this meme will be seeing what other people think. It's not easy to answer each question if you take it seriously. Think of all the songs we know or have heard. Yikes.
I'm an old fart, but that's a good song. Not my fav, but good.
I weep when I see what has become of MTV.
Love Joe's haircut, the Dick Tracy appearance, the armadillo...
