I Hate This Story SO MUCH

After 'The Little Match Girl' by Hans Christian Anderson, 'The Giving Tree' is the worst story I was exposed to as a child. Way to hammer the message into my head with a deft and subtle touch. All the story needed to tell it the RIGHT WAY was this one page. When are you damn trees going to smarten up? You deserve all the exploitation that happens to you.

OMG, it's horrific. Have you read it. It's a bout a poor girl that sells matches door to door to make money for her and her poor starving mother. As she freezes in the cold but can't start a fire to keep warm because the matches are the only thing valuable she has to sell. Then she starts to freeze to death and has a dream about a beautiful life full of love, worth and food but we find in the end that those dreams were that last hallucinations that people who freeze to DEATH have before they die. That story is just written to make me sad. I hate to think of some poor match girl dying along in a cold, cruby victorian street.
