I have decided that of all the fantasy and science fiction art every created, this is my favorite scene. I thought about this a long time and finally I had to declare this STAR WARS poster by the Hildebrandt Bros as number one image.
Why is this my number one? It makes me feel something deep within my soul each time I see it. The colors attract my eye and I can learn everything I really need to know about the story from just looking at the poster. It's like a time machine that takes me back to specific time in my life. I can smell the smells and see the colors like it all happened only yesterday.

not my favourite, at all, but, yeah, I know what you mean. there are memories and moments that are so vividly brought back to me every time I see this, and it always fills me with a sense of joy and wonder, even now after all these years.
I get the same from the poster to Logan's Run.

For me, its Peter Wolfe's poster for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

While I love the Indy posters by Drew Struzan and Richard Amsel for their incredible detail, this one has the "less is more" school of thought to it. Indy isn't battling a swordsman or big muscle man, but emerging from the light cutting a swath through the darkness, letting evil know to start panicking because he's coming to take you down.
I love this one too because of how it makes me feel. The look of Indy reminds me of the look of determination he has when he says first then get the stones and then they get out of the mines - ALL of them.
Interesting. Why the Hildebrandt version and not the nearly-identical alternate with sexy Leia?
Be honest, is there ever a time when Leia isn't radiating sex appeal?
It certainly helped that after Aunt Beru died she become the only woman in the freakin' galaxy until "Jedi".
STILL MY FAVORITE SW poster of all time.. I still have this in pristine condition since the day I bought it, when SW premiered in my town in '77. Bought it for a buck.
I never liked the revised, realistic faces.
The Hildebrandt faces will always ROCK.
One of my favorites too and I agree with how things trigger memories, feelings, smells, etc. I think that is why I continue to collect toys from my childhood. One the posters that really does it for me the Revenge of the Jedi teaser poster and it is proudly displayed in my toy room.
It's definately the memories. I have been going through my older things this weekend and it's been a memory festival. Nothing smells better than an action figure fresh from the package.
