Super Best Friends Forever Teaser

The full episode will air this Saturday on DC Nation. Of all the things that DC Comics gets so wrong with me, who would have thought that their animation division was were all the best creative people are working. Comics need to change their model and stop going back to what didn't work in the past. I don't know how they do that but I wish the creators of these fantastic DC Nation shorts would get a seat at the table.

The characterizations are perfect. Supergirl is a bit of a brat because she knows how powerful she is. She loves goading other people into fighting her because she thinks she has to constantly prove herself.

Donna is aristocratic and haughty. She is not as smart about the world as she thinks she is and has a pride that would be her downfall. She also have supreme confidence in her abilities.

Batgirl is just a spazz on a permanent sugar rush. She is just this side of squirrelly. This is MY Batgirl - the one who also has an overinflated opinion of her own abilities. She is reckless but innovative. She knows how to use everything at her disposal to win. Everyone forgets she had to earn the respect of The Batman to keep the job.

So how did I get that much from a series of shorts that together don't add up to ten minutes running time? That's the genius of the concept. The minute and a half running time for each cartoon is a perfect gag. Everyone gets their part to play and the over effect is very entertaining. I would hate to see this spoiled by getting expanded into a 22 minute regular series. Don't try to fix what isn't broken.

I also kinda like how they don't have any 'girl' issues with each other. As I have always said, 'women hate women' and old women and gay men (in the fashion industry) hate young women the most. These three bring out the best in each other and isn't that what Super Best Friends SHOULD do?

I have such an irrational love for this series of shorts that no one had better fuck it up by trying to expand the concept to 22 minutes.

Everything about them is perfect.

And I have always said it..."Grundy No Fight Girls"
