This Looks Interesting - Crossbones

John Malkovich plays the legendary Blackbeard in NBC’s first action-filled trailer for its upcoming pirate-drama series Crossbones. Below, the Red and Dangerous Liaisons actor threatens, kills, and romances, not to mention downright Malkoviches the scenery, as he pressures a crafty physician (Richard Coyle) into helping him find a treasure. “I’m not the devil … I cast out the devil,” he declares.

Crossbones is written by Neil Cross (Luther, Doctor Who) and marks Malkovich’s first series-regular TV role. Expect some to draw comparisons to Starz’ Black Sails, which is also set around New Providence Island pirates wrestling over the key to a treasure.

The first Crossbones trailer is below. The series launch is scheduled for early summer in NBC’s Friday genre-drama block, premiering May 30 at 10 p.m.

It sorta creeps me out the same way that series Dexter did. Couldn't watch it past the first season.

Its fascinating to see television step up the way it has in the past decade. Bigger budgets, more arc based stories and movie caliber character actors in leading reals. As you are fond of saying, we live in a golden age.

Every generation has it's golden age. I think that the movies from the 50's-60's are my golden age.
