Our New Five Dollar Coin

In two years these five dollar coins will replace all five dollar paper bills. We called the one dollar coin a LOONIE because it had a picture of a loon on it. That came out decades ago. The two dollar coin has a polar bear on it but we call that a TWOONIE. I suggest we called this new five dollar one a WOLFIE or a MOONIE because of the moon in the background.

I bet "moonie" will win out simply because it rhymes with loonie and twoonie. I don't mind having a $5 coin but can we PLEASE get rid of nickels and dimes not that the penny has bit the dust? Just round up everything to a quarter, fer gawds sake.

I hear ya and that is coming sooner rather than later. I sure they did some study to show that getting rid of them would cost business money. Are any of us fooled by 99 cent stores anymore. It's NEVER 99 cents.

The $5 coin you pictured here is a special edition silver dollar and not a coin that will go into circulation. The Canadian Mint makes a lot of these style coins just for collectors. The $5 bill is not going anywhere.

"Moonie" is already a second name for the Twoonie... Because the coin has a Queen with a bear behind... :p
