Currently Playing At The Bijou Of Cool

This is one that I saw many times as a kid. It got rotated into the movie selection we got at the weekend matinees at the Base theatre. Because the military leased a copy from the studio they could show the best movies often to pad out their schedule. This was a favorite that always filled the theatre. I must have seen it 10 times over the years I lived on an army base. It was as close to having a video store as we got back in the 70s. Few people saw the same movie more than one time. It's not like today where you can watch an old favorite at will because remembering the times it evokes makes you feel happy.

Plus there is nothing better than the hammy over-acting of James Mason. Pure GOLD!

James Mason was a great actor but yeah, he was not above phoning it in for a fat paycheque.

And I must say, all is now clear how those giant squid scenes traumatized you for life.

Well that and the time one of the rushed the glass at me when we were at an Aquarium in Holland. My dad said his whole body deformed the way they do when they are going fast at the glass. I jumped about ten feet and he was swishing around like he wanted to get me if he could. Freaked me out bad.

Sorry to hear about that Cal. I've had some experience, way back when, and I found Octopi to be cool, squid, not so much.
