Ahh, Asteroids! How many hours did I waste, er, I mean "spend", on that amazing game?
Yeah, I wasn't born when it was released, but I still rock it hardcore on the computer though.
First it was Pong and then Asteroids, i was easily amused back in the day.
We all were Drake. We all were. Nothing like being there at the beginning. Damn punk kids with their photorealistic CGI. There was a time when Donkey Kong and Ms Pac Man made you their bitch and you LIKED it goshdarnit!
I think Retroist did a popcast about Asteroids today or yesterday!
When I try to calculate the total value of quarters that have I poured into arcade games I start to hyper-ventilate. OH. WELL.
But I must say that I don't remember the original Asteroids as being "cutting edge" for long.
"Deluxe Asteroids" (I believe it was called), with those funky blueish crystal ship things that chased after you after you hit their roundish mother ship thingie, now, that one ruled for a very long time.
If only I'd put just every tenth quarter into Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles or gold or something.
