100 Questions - The Next Ten

31) Smell the air. What do you smell?

The sweet lemony scent of failure.

32) What's the worst place you have ever been to?

Denny's (and remember, I have been to Africa). I sat for hours waiting to be picked up drinking from their bottomless coffee mug. 7 hours later and pucking up coffee, I was rescued by my Dad. Before the days of cell phones and answering machines where if people were OUT you couldn't get in touch with them. It's the reason I don't drink coffee to this day. Not that I am averse to hot beverages, it's just the taste is revolting to me. I do enjoy the smell of coffee however.

33) Choose East Coast or West Coast?

WEST COAST BITCHES YO YO HOMMIE YO YO!!

34) Most attractive singer of your opposite gender?

I really like watching Natalie Merchant of 10,000 Maniacs or Shirley Manson of Garbage prance around. Sarah McLaughlin is pretty terrific too. Though these days it begins and ends with Miss Adele.

35) To you, what is the meaning of life?

Earth is the Hell. All the gods and demons are here in each one of us. It's up to us which side in the eternal struggle that we let dominate our thinking. I know what side I am on and that's a comforting feeling because my side cares about people and social justice, the environment and the good of all living things. I try to resist all the devils in this world that are used to enslave us by fighting back in in any smarmy, sarcastic way that I can. I think that perspective can be important at this time in our civilization.

36) Define Art.

Art is beauty in all it's forms.

37) Do you believe in luck?

Luck and Karma are the same thing and I have a story to prove it. For the past month my Aunt has been visiting us to escape some of the stress or her regular life. We were like a spa to her. She is often loud and opinionated with few in any unexpressed thoughts in her head. She is also notoriously cheap. When she left yesterday she was cleaning out her coat pocket and found an uncashed casino receipt for 23 dollars in her pocket. Since she was leaving (on a 12 hour bus ride instead of a 1 our plane flight - saving a quarter) and since she hates to see money go to waste she gave it to my mother to cash in or put into the machine for her.

Now my mother has been great to her younger sister. Without a complaint she listened to all that jibber jabber while worrying when I was gonna reach my limits of patience but I never cracked once. Okay I did say FUCK YOU by accentuating every letter but that was in fun.

Anyways my Mom goes to casino, puts in the twenty, gets 100 free plays and walks out five minutes later with many hundreds of dollars. I choose to believe that the Universe rewarded a good person who did good things for a difficult family member (as she does for me everyday and I can't be a peach to be around). My Mom comes from poor beginnings so such windfalls are something she really enjoys. She wants to order Chinese Food this weekend but not before we go to the Cosco and buys some food to contribute to the food drive at her Curves.

Now that is someone who understands the difference between Karma and Luck.

38) What's the weather like right now?

Overcast but the temperature is suppose to get above freezing again. Definitely into spring with there being less and less snow on the ground with each passing day.

39) What time is it?

10:38 AM Central Standard Time

40) Do you drive? If so, have you ever crashed?

I crashed my Volkswagen Beetle into a huge snowpile once but it just popped right back out with not damage and the outline of the car left in the snow. It was like a giant car mold had been turned on it's side, you could see the details so clearly.

I'm very happy for your mom and her big win. It is nice when good people get something special. I hate Denny's. When they opened here 20+ years ago we went twice. Both times the food was cold and the service terrible. Never been back. I like the question period.

Don't tell your Auntie about the Big Win. She'll want you to send it to her.
