I Think I Hate This
No, I definitely hate this new look for Robocop. One thing that made the original work so well was the ILLUSION that Peter Weller gave you in that fantastic costume. He WAS a ROBOT cop that you could actually believe existed. This costume just looks like another special effect.
How does one remake a movie as iconic as ROBOCOP anyways? Where will they ever find a guy like THIS?

Yeah I aint diggin on it either. There was nothing wrong with the original Peter Weller Robocop armor... They could have stuck to the clunky lumbering robot dance design...it gave Robo charcater. This...well he looks like Judge Dredd or Iron Man...Not the Robocop I know and love. Another change I don't like...they change OCP ( an anagram of COP ) to OMNICORP.....wtf?!!!

I saw another picture on a site were the armor was jet black and commenters were calling him "BatCop".

I agree this suit looks too much like Iron Man. It difficult to imagine that this is man integrated with computer parts. It looks like a guy just wearing a suit.
Some movies are too iconic to ever try to remake. Look at what a disaster 'Total Recall' was.
I can understand wanting to upgrade from the bulky 80s design to something more modern and streamlined, but I really have to wonder what the story will be. I seems that things that occurred in original movie; gentrification, massive unemployment, integrating technology into the workplace, corrupt corporations privatizing the military, these are all things that have come to pass in the real world.
Will this movie tackle any kind of new issues?
So many people miss the biting social commentary that go into Paul Verhoven movies. He did the same thing with 'Starship Troopers'. I have a feeling they are only thinking of the action and we will all be disappointed with the results.
I don't know, it could have been worse. I've heard it's one of 3 looks he'll have. We'll see.
If it weren't supposed to be ROBOCOP I think most of us would think it was pretty cool, if a bit derivative.
I suspect the producers of the film misapprehended the iconic nature of the ROBOCOP suit. Honestly, if you're going to top the original you really have to go full retard and...
