More Food For Thought

Hurricane Sandy is a perfect, microcosmic example of America’s attitude toward government. We have millions of people who, most of the year, are ready to bash anyone who accepts government aid as a parasitic welfare queen, but the instant the water level rises a few feet too high in their own neighborhoods, those same folks transform into little Roosevelts, full of plaudits for the benefits of a strong state. The truth is, nobody, be he rich or poor, wants his government services cut. Drive up and down route 128 outside Boston, you’ll see a lot of affluent white people waving Romney signs, complaining about entitlement spending. But about four thousand percent of those same people working along the high-tech ring there are totally dependent on the Pentagon contracts that keep doors open at companies like Raytheon and General Dynamics.” - Matt Tiabbi

From Jay Frasier: Dear GOP.

“Now, since President Obama took office, all of a sudden, the GOP have gotten mad, and want to take America Back. BACK TO WHAT? BACK TO WHERE? This is my question.
After The 8 Years Of The Bush/Cheney Disaster, now you get mad?

You didn’t get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.

You didn’t get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate Energy policy and push us to invade Iraq.

You didn’t get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.

You didn’t get mad when we spent over 800 billion (and counting) on said illegal war.

You didn’t get mad when Bush borrowed more money from foreign sources than the previous 42 Presidents combined.

You didn’t get mad when over 10 billion dollars in cash just disappeared in Iraq.

You didn’t get mad when Bush embraced trade and outsourcing policies that shipped 6 million American jobs out of the country.

You didn’t get mad when they didn’t catch Bin Laden.

You didn’t get mad when Bush rang up 10 trillion dollars in combined budget and current account deficits.

You didn’t get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed Veteran’s Hospital.

You didn’t get mad when we let a major US city, New Orleans, drown.

You didn’t get mad when we gave people who had more money than they could spend, the 1%, over a trillion dollars in tax breaks.

You didn’t get mad with the worst 8 years of job creations in several decades.

You didn’t get mad when over 200,000 US Citizens lost their lives because they had no health insurance.

You didn’t get mad when lack of oversight and regulations from the Bush Administration caused US Citizens to lose 12 trillion dollars in investments, retirement, and home values.

You finally got mad when a black man was elected President and decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick.

Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, job losses by the millions, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, and the worst economic disaster since 1929 are all okay with you, but helping fellow Americans who are sick and could benefit from Obamacare?… Oh, Hell No!”

Vote Obama 2012

And won't SOMEONE please think of the CHILDRED!!

I give up. Turn the whole nation into one big Thunderdome if you like. Numnuts can't handle the cold so I won't be bothered for a long time.

You should probably refrain from politics, sir..

And koolaid.

I know. I make too much sense.

I knew it though.. I have sat waiting...

"WAITING..."

For someone, SOMEONE to bring up Bush..

I know when liberals had no further answers to the simplest of debates, when they've given up their ludricris arguments, they bring up Bush.

What did that administration have to clean up from the previous?

Well, Earth to Mr. Frasier: Bush isn't running in this election.

Funny thing is, for someone ("....ANYONE?") interested in historical facts.. except for both Bush 41 and 43, Democratic Presidents have gotten the US into nearly every war waged in the 19th and 20th Centuries, typically with Republicans ending it. Wilson, FDR, Kennedy, Johnson, you name it.

Look it up.

Again, yes people, both Bush administrations sought to free Kuwait and Iraq from deadly thug rule. So sue 'em.

You're still awesome sir. When someone can address facts, ring me up.

Oh, and the FIRST person to bring up race is him/herself the racist.

It's beneath most folks (like myself) to even bring up race as why we disagree with the President. That's why I share your irritation, Cal, if all folks can do here is return with an ignorant quip. But I'm more for keeping the Cave Cool and ignore politics all together.

Black..? The folks bringing up racism have NO.. CLUE..

I personally don't agree with Socialism. It eats away at the very core of what our Fore Fathers first envisioned.

Throwing money and social programs at the poor..? Um, what do you think the 'Great Society' was about back in the 60s..?

Soooo, how well did that work..?

Those who fail to understand History are doomed to repeat.

Sorry, can't ignore the world around me as much as I would like. Feel free to come and go as you please. I can't be all things to all people...or everything to one person.

Nope, I'm still waiting on the day, Oscar Goldman shows up at your Cave entrance, sir.

Now THAT'LL be something to celebrate about.

Other than that, just hoping to provide clarity those who listen.

All Hail the Cave.
