The Non-Color Of The Day Is White

Not to knit pic your awesome color posts (which I love by the way) but 3 years of art school taught me that white is indeed a color, the same as zero is technically a number.

White is a lack of color while black is all the colors...that is why they are not on the color spectrum. That's what I was taught.

You're right when it comes to ink (there is no such thing as white ink. Cyan, magenta, yellow and black compose all the colors and your media is typically white) but in paint and pigments white is a processed color. White light on the other hand is all the visible color spectrums mixed at once but that is bordering on optic science and waaaaaaay outside my skill set.

I think I just have issues with the white crayon on the box when you only have white paper to color on. It's such a useless color to have...but then when you have colored paper it's whole value changes. I have given this way too much thought.

That's it, white crayons (pencils) on colored paper is so fun to work with! It's a lot more challenging to draw highlights instead of shadows.
