Why You Can't Attribute Human Characteristics To Animal Behavior

LIONESS BETRIENDS BABY IMPALA

Photographer Adri De Visser captured photos of the amazing sight when a lioness befriended a baby Uganda Kob after killing its mother. In the photo series, the lioness seemingly adopts the baby antelope, nuzzling it and picking it up by the scruff of its neck.

Before you all get tears for this beautiful 'Circle of Life' moment remember that the lioness (doing what lioness' do) just killed the baby's antelope's MOTHER! How cold is it for the lioness to hang out with the child of the parent she had just slaughtered? Does she feel guilt or is she just really an unfeeling bitch. I really don't see her raising the antelope to adulthood and putting it through college to balance her bad feelings despite what a great animated Disney movie that would be.

I have the feeling that Ms Lion isn't really adopting the baby so much as keeping this little snack lunch warm for later. I guarantee that if you check back in a week there will be no baby antelope to be found and the lioness will deny all knowledge that she ever knew it in the first place.

Maybe she had a "cute overload" moment. Nah, I like the snack for later on theory.

I thought that also...the holidays will be here before you know it and there is nothing I like better on a hot Christmas morning than Antelope jerky.
