Ghost Train Crossing Canada

For a delightful and scenic photography project entitled Ghost Train Crossing Canada, Vancouver, BC-based photographer Jeff Friesen traveled cross-country via a very special train.

‘I wanted to take a coast-to-coast journey across Canada in a way that had never been seen before. To give a fresh perspective to the journey I decided to take the train. It’s not just any train, but rather the legendary 1959 passenger train that was first to be called “The Canadian.”’

Look closely at this train and you’ll start to notice what makes it so special: it’s a 2-inch-tall model train traveling on toy train tracks. Instead of riding the train across Canada, Friesen is carrying it with him and setting it up in each new location, shooting with careful perspective to make “The Canadian” appear like a full-size passenger train.
