Parkour

Created in Paris, Parkour or Free Running is an urban sport/activity where people try to get from point A to point B by leaping or climbing over the obstacles along the way. I could watch it all day because only two things can happen. You either make it over or onto the obstacle or you wipe out in spectacular fashion. Either outcome is enjoyable to me. Neatorama suggested that this should be an Olympic sport. Think about that. You could use some of the most famous landmarks in the host city. Participants would study the city to find the quickest and most visually exciting route and be awarded points based on their time and degree of difficulty. It takes tremendous balance and strength to accomplish these routines and the ones who do this 'sport' are no less athletes than gymnasts or those who do track and field. Watch this video and try to deny the beauty inherent in what these guys do. I can think of ten sports less exciting to watch easily. Perhaps, though, elevating this activity to such a level would spoil the spontaneity and purity.
