A Dune -Themed Vacation for Kal

Sarah has invited me to go to a convention with her in Minnesota where the visitors dress in their favorite Dune characters. I am sure she would be just lovely as the Lady Jessica but I would have to go more freakish looking as weapons master Gurney Halleck. In the books it was rumored that they spend alot of time together when the two returned from Arakkis to Caladan. I could get to pretend we were a couple and that is worth going on holidays for.

You'd make a great Gurney (go for the Lynch movie uniform).
The spice must flow, brother!

Thanks for that buddy. I got the double intendre. Let's see if she doesn't change her mind.

Well, if Sarah is still inclined to have you as her consort (after all this double entendre) then you absolutely must accompany her. It is the only gentlemanly thing to do. Why haven't you bought your tickets yet?

The real gentlemanly thing to do is give her a chance to back out when she rethinks her impulsive invitation...

Ha ha! Now you will discover that double entendres are like catnip to me.

I do have to clarify however--the convention isn't just about Dune, it's an overall SF/F convention that celebrates all areas of geekdom.

But hold on...you'll be really excited about this next bit...2011's theme is STEAMPUNK!

Hmmm, now we have to think of a way to incorporate Dune & steampunk together. Are you up for the challenge?

I will but my conciderable imagination to coming up with a cool idea. Dune and Steampunk do seem like a good mix. The trick is making it enough of each so that people immediately get the reference.

I'm envisioning a steampunk version of Gurney's baliset already...

Now people will expect me to play it.

Maybe you could take up guitar lessons as a way to help you keep your fingers nimble while you win your battle against diabetes?

You are going to make me work for it aren't you kitty kat?

Always. It's how I roll!
