The Return Of Captain Action

I couldn't be happier to read that the 'Captain Action' franchise is alive and well. Coming this fall is a new 'Captain Action' figure and two new costume packages that allow 'Captain Action' to take on the identity of both 'Spider-Man' and 'Captain America'.

These photographs are terrific and show off the quality of the figures and the accessories. There are plans for a whole line of Marvel character packages. Check out the link to the article below if you are remotely interested in this topic.

With the release of these pieces, can a new Dr Evil figure be far behind? I hope he is just as retro as the one I have. He wears sandals and a big ass medallion. Doesn't get any better than that.

A few years ago, 'Playing Mantis' released a whole set of costume sets to go with the 'Captain Action' characters. I have most of these in my collection. They are gorgeous pieces.

And of course the original ad for the toy as it was marketed in the 1960s. Examples of this line in their original boxes are hard to find and fetch top dollar. You really got a lot for your money with these quality sets. The idea was solid.

I love the fact that you had one figure that could wear so many of these hero and villain outfits. There were a ton of accessories and great masks to complete the illusion. Yes some sets had bizarre little tweeks like giving 'Spider-Man' a gun but there was enormous play value across the line. The mix and match potential alone would have made six year old Calvin's head explode.

I have them on pre-order. I am happy I have a reliable store to order these figures from. Do you have any of the sets or figures from 'Playing Mantis'?
