Tower Heist 2011

Nothing that I like better than a huge cast of good character actors makes the most of a disaster that befalls them all. It's like a fairy tale. And it's set in New York. Sounds perfect.

The Tower is a New York building where premium living is paid for and every problem is dealt with by the greatest staff on the face of the Earth. The staff pride themselves at knowing every tiny detail they need to know to insure that their client's lives are hassle free. I like the whole machine-like precision of it all. Everybody knows their place and their job.

You know it's all going to go badly (or we wouldn't have a film). I just want me a happy ending. Damn it. I NEED me a happy ending to end my week. Sunday must be happy ending movie days at the Cave. So let it be written...So let it be DONE!

Eddie Murphy is back channeling 1984 when he was the funniest black man on Earth. You'll be happy to know that he only adds to the energy here. This has the energy of one of those 80s movies where 'the gang' team up to save their community centre.

Mathew Broderick is particularly good as a man who has hit rock bottom and now has nothing to loose and lots of questions to ask.

The idea is totally unworkable but they have a great way of falling ass backwards into success. It's like a live action cartoon. Not a bad way to spend an hour and a half. Nothing great but not going to destroy the world either.
