The Bow And Arrow Lobby Has Been Busy

The big money in the next year will be in opening a bow and arrow store and arrow shooting range. I can see alot of kids wanting to take lessons. There was a time in my life when I fenced twice a week and went weekly to arrow and air pistol range. It was always fun and very zen. Lots of little brothers and sisters and household pets are going to be going in for emergency arrow removal I suspect.

I have a coworker who teaches and coaches archery on the side. He's already reporting a surge in interest. And I'm glad for it...I like when kinda-obscure things become really popular. I hope it lasts!

Boy, am I looking forward to Brave. Hope it's good.

I've been missing all the good animated flicks when they came out in the cinemas (How to Train Your Dragon, Tangled, Princess and The Frog), so I promised myself I'd catch Brave when it comes out.

Yeah, Brave is looking to be a damn fine film - always had a thing for bow and arrows. And redheads.

If you get a chance, check out the most recent trailer for Brave (3rd I think) and then look up the Japanese version. Way different cut for a different cultural demographic target.

all the summer archery classes in my community are full. Last summer at the Bass Pro Shop they had a bunch of kids activities. They had both the bb gun shoot and the bow and arrow shoot. The bow and arrow shoot had a line, mostly girls between the ages of 10-14. All of them wanted to be Katniss.

I've always thought that having a weird, obscure skill like archery, blacksmithing or weaving would come in mighty hand during the apocalypse.

In all my favorite post-apocalypse books, the heroes who know how to use oxen to till fields were the nerds everyone thought was weird before Armageddon, but now are begging advice from :)

Excellent point, Sarah. That reminds me: there's a metal-worker up the road here. Should probably take up blacksmithing in my spare time :)
